2023 Tips for The Best Bar Experience

How to have the best wedding bar experience, tips from yours truly.

The time has come to start planning your big day and we are here to help! Here at TFP we’re kicking off 2023 by pulling together some of our favourite tips to help you have the best bar experience on your special day.

1. SERVE UP A SPECTACULAR WELCOME DRINK.

There is nothing better than walking towards a welcome drink station filled with delicious, ice cold refreshing drinks to kick off your welcome reception.

We recommend 2 drinks per person minimum, but guests always have the best time when the drinks are free flowing (bottomless is best 😉).

2. CHOOSE WINES YOUR GUESTS WILL LOVE FOR YOUR WEDDING BREAKFAST.

We've poured more glasses of wine than most people have had hot dinners, so we know what's hot, and what's not, on a wedding day.

The most important thing is getting the right balance of red/white/rose, if in doubt go heavier on the white and rose or get your bar provider to recommend wines based on your meal choices or what is currently popular.

For example, you can't get much hotter right now than a deliciously dry Provence rose on a hot summer's day, or a thirst quenching Italian white like a Gavi. And for the red something that can stand up to the meat pairings like a shiraz or Malbec usually goes down well with guests.

3. HAVE A BEAUTIFUL, FULLY EQUIPPED, FULLY STOCKED PROFESSIONAL BAR SET UP.

The quality of the bar will impact the overall visual of the space, so you want it to look as good as it functions! And, Guests love being able to walk up to a fully stocked bar and order their favourite drink; want a cocktail? We've got 'em. G&T? No problem! Champagne? The fridge is full!

4. SERVE AN EVENING ‘WELCOME’ DRINK.

Something you might not have thought about but is always a winner. Greet your evening guests with a thoughtful welcome by serving a cocktail or fizz on arrival. They didn't make the cut for the day after all (😬), so this is your opportunity to make them feel special.

5. HAVE A ‘PART’ PAID OR OPEN BAR.

This one is more about guest experience than your experience, but it makes SUCH a difference on the day when guests can walk up to the bar, order a martini and then walk away without having to pay, they just love it!

6. CUSTOMISE YOUR COCKTAIL LIST.

Take a trip down memory lane with your partner, remembering the first date, favourite holiday or that one time you made double pour margaritas at home and make it part of your day.

Pick out your favourite cocktails and have a special menu on your bar. We always offer this as part of our service, and can customise the menu styling. Plus we love hearing your stories behind the drink.

7. ‘MEH’ ABOUT FIZZ? SWITCH UP THE TOAST!

We hear more and more from couples that they want a toast but they just aren’t fans of fizz.

We personally can think of nothing better than a fresh glass of Pol Roger on a warm summer’s evening, but fizz isn’t for everyone, and so our advice is, if YOU aren’t going to love it on the day, switch it up!

Some of our most memorable toasts for couple’s have been port (military), or ice cold shots of limoncello, and guests love it. 🍋

8. MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE A BAR PROVIDER WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL THE NITTY GRITTY DETAILS.

You don’t want to be dealing with applying for the right licensing or having the hassle of arranging refrigeration, so chose a bar provider who can manage all the details for you.

9. IT’S GOT TO BE GLASS.

For an elegant, elevated experience, make sure your bar provider uses glassware. It might sound simple, but offering glassware is more challenging than meets the eye for mobile bar providers, and as a result it can be something that is compromised on.

As part of the level of experience that we offer, glassware is always a built-in part of our service, because quite simply even the world’s finest drinks are not the same in a scrunchy cup, and we want you too have THE BEST experience.
