So, you’re planning a DIY wedding. Firstly, congrats on your engagement! What an exciting time this is for you, and by choosing a DIY wedding, you will have lots of decisions to make and details to plan right now, which is all part of the fun!

The bar is one of those details, and so to help you we thought we’d share our top reasons why opting for a professional mobile bar is the very best option for your big day.

Here are our top 10 reasons to hire a professional bar:

  1. So that you and your guests have a great time

  2. No worries for you - let the good times roll

  3. Licensing and insurance

  4. Glass hire is included

  5. Set up and clear up is completely taken care of

  6. No wastage - and no falling short

  7. Things are less likely to get out of hand

  8. The added benefits that make your day special

  9. Less cost to you

  10. It will look fantastic

1. SO THAT YOU AND YOUR GUESTS HAVE A GREAT TIME

Your bar isn’t just a functional add on, its a big part of adding to the atmosphere and so the enjoyment of your celebrations. The bar gets the party going seamlessly in the background whilst you are mingling with your guests and soaking up the special moments with your loved ones.

2. NO WORRIES FOR YOU - LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL

When planning to do a DIY wedding bar, brides and grooms always underestimate just how much time and work it will take. So, you either take on the burden yourselves, and this affects your enjoyment of your big day, or, you ask friends and family to do it, and the burden is then on them, instead. either way, someone loses and that’s not what you want when you should all be having a great time together. Our service includes staff, leaving you free to party!

3. LICENSING AND INSURANCE

Perhaps the most important of all, and for obvious reasons. Depending on the location of your wedding, you might need a temporary event notice (TEN) to sell alcohol. If the venue is licensed, then to sell alcohol you’ll still need a licensee present. You will also need to check your insurance covers alcohol-related incidences. We have all the insurance relevant to the bar, are personal license holders and can apply for a TEN on your behalf (which is included in our booking fee).

4. GLASS HIRE IS INCLUDED

When you hire a bar, the bar brings the glasses. Whether that's glass, melamine or disposable (compostable only, of course), we take care of the lot. The other BIG bonus here is that we also, therefore, clear away and clean the glasses, another job that would otherwise be left to the B&G or friends and family.

5. SET UP AND CLEAR UP IS COMPLETELY TAKEN CARE OF

If you want your bar to look nice, then you will need to put some time into setting it up. That also = spending money. If you hire a bar, that's all taken care of, so your bar will look great and cost far less than if you DIY it, and it’s also cleared away at the end, too, meaning nothing for you to do at all relating to the bar. Phew, that’s one thing off the list!

6. NO WASTAGE - AND NO FALLING SHORT

If you're doing a DIY wedding bar then you've got to guess how much you're going to need, and that's not easy! DIY weddings are often in fields or other remote locations whereby nipping to the shop just isn’t possible, so if you under-do it, your guests are going to be left sober and underwhelmed by 10 pm. On the other hand, if you overdo it, then you run the risk of massively overspending and having a lot of waste.

7. THINGS ARE LESS LIKELY TO GET OUT OF HAND

Sober staff on a professional bar are not just serving drinks, they are keeping an eye on the welfare of your guests, too. That means if someone is starting to descend into the land of no return, we will stop serving them, and take the time to ensure they are OK. If you have a DIY bar then one of two situations are likely; either your bar is help yourself, meaning nobody is keeping an eye on anyone, or there are 'bar staff' but they are drunk as well! Either of these scenarios is a one-way ticket to trouble - trust us!

8. THE ADDED BENEFITS THAT MAKE YOUR DAY SPECIAL

On top of what you'd typically expect from a professional wedding bar, there are other, additional elements that you might not have thought of that make your day even better. We care about your day being everything you dreamt of, and so we do can do things like create personalised cocktail menus or serve signature 'team bride' and 'team groom' drinks. Little details like these make your day even more magical and personal.

9. LESS COST TO YOU

In addition to the cost of creating and setting up your own bar, often when you put on a DIY bar, you end up giving a lot of alcohol away for free. This is because either; you don’t have a license to sell, you feel you have to give it away as you don’t want to charge your friends and family, or because nobody’s watching and it turns into a free-for-all. Your big day is one of the most expensive things you’ll ever do, but the bar element of it doesn’t have to add to that unnecessarily.

10. IT WILL LOOK FANTASTIC

You’re putting a lot of time, effort and, let’s face it, money into making your big day beautiful. From the flowers to the table settings, every element will have been carefully considered. That’s why it’s important that you don’t undo all of your careful planning by bodging a DIY bar when you could have a beautiful wedding bar that compliments the rest of your space.

OK, I think that’ll do for now, hopefully, that explains why a professional mobile wedding bar is the best choice to ensure you have an incredible day and your guests have a great time, too. We hope your planning is going well and if we can be of any assistance, please just shout, we’d love to hear from you!
